Ruben Nieto Designs

In the 1940’s in Central Mexico and for over 30 years, my grandfather owned an exclusive, bespoke men’s clothing store. As a young boy, I spent a lot of time in the shop with my grandfather watching him style his clients with personalized attention. By age seven, I was fascinated by American comic books. I watched cartoons on TV and loved drawing my favorite superheroes and cartoon characters. I continued drawing, developed design skills and ultimately earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and became an artist. 

 In the mid-90’s I helped my sister open a shop specializing in products crafted by the best artisans in the region. This experience helped me to develop a keen eye for unique items and high quality craftsmanship.

I moved to Dallas in 2006 to pursue post-graduate studies in Arts and Technology at UTDallas and have made Dallas my home. Several years ago, I was shopping for t-shirts and couldn’t find a design that was appealing to me, so I created my own. I began to apply my designs to other materials and products, such as pocket squares, scarves, other accessories and home decor. And Ruben Nieto Designs was born. 

 Ruben Nieto Designs is inspired by the Comic books of my youth heavily influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art. Each design is created thoughtfully with joy, beauty and passion with the sole purpose of sharing these same qualities with you, in the tradition of my family.

Scarves

Every scarf design is conceived as an individual piece of art. Twill silk is the canvas for the creation and each scarf is like a painting that you can wrap around yourself.
